Phase II expansion adds 170,000 square feet to the Science Center with Morley
Construction Company as the General Contracting firm. SMI has performed many
projects for Morley over the years and is pleased to have been part of the
multifaceted group of construction professionals and subcontractors on this
high profile project
With a diverse range of facility uses, our standard
Plastic Laminated Casework manufactured per the guidelines set forth by the
Woodwork institute, are a common thread throughout this entire project. These
cabinets are finished with countertops fabricated with Plastic Laminate, Epoxy,
Solid Surface and Granite slab as design specifications
required.

A Wood Bench in the entry is integrated into
a concrete-terrazzo niche was fabricated by milling 40 solid Maple slats to
size and laminating into a single unit. Prior to delivery a jig was used to
locate and set anchor bolts in the field, this large custom bench was set into
place and securely fastened in a matter of minutes.
Double solid wood
stair rail caps parallel one another leading to the second floor and are formed
to the curvature of the stainless steel railing system.
Maple veneer wall panels and casework
line The Directors Offices and Executive Restrooms. The Organizer Windows and
window sills in close proximity at the 3rd & 4th floors are Maple veneer
panels trimmed out with hardwood edges. Many other window sills are solid
surface and plastic laminate.
Other peripheral work performed by SMI
includes the FRP panels and stainless steel & white powder coated metal
shelving located throughout the project.
